There are lots of flowers to choose from, and no flower is a poor choice, but your flower garden can be simply magnificent, or only okay because of your choice. However, the garden is likely to require flowers that are strong enough to tolerate direct sunlight if it is planted in a location that receives large amounts of sunlight. A lot of these plant species don’t need as much sunlight for photosynthesis and so they flourish in cool temperatures such as those you find in shady areas. Dirt is another determining factor because only some flowers are able to adapt to any soil type. A lot of flowers could find it tough to grow roots in rocky soil. Thin black dirt, without a lot of rubble, is obviously the ideal dirt for flowers. You may have earth with the consistency of sand throughout the area where you live, and if that is the case, you will need to plant local flowers. Violets are usually one species that easily adapt and can grow in sand.
If you have finished your research, and realize what kind of flowers you can plant, now you can take that information, and pick out what you want to grow. Now you need to draw out on a piece of paper what your garden will probably look like, by writing down the heights each plant is expected to reach. For example, you may wish to grow sunflowers, taller flowers that thrive on sunlight, near other plants that grow close to the ground and prefer the shade that will be created by the sunflowers. Reap the benefits of the many colors of the flowers and set them so that they will visually appeal to people. Should you so choose, let your garden highlight only yellow flowers, in conjunction with blue ones, or go wild with bursts of color everywhere.
